Starkbierfest (Strong Beer Festival), March-April 2010
After Shrovetide, normally around Josefi Day (19th March, formerly a public holiday in Bavaria), the Starkbierfest gets underway between the Au and Giesing on the Nockherberg. The festival ushers in the “fifth season” and the world-famous Salvator beer is served for seventeen days.
The Auer Dult (Au Fair), 24.4.-02.05.2010
The first of the three Auer Dulten fairs is traditionally the May Fair in spring. Every year the May Dult entices visitors to Mariahilfplatz in the Au district of Munich for a relaxing stroll, mouth-watering treats and to enjoy all the fun of the fair. Further dates:

Munich Opera Festival: 24.6.-31.07.2010
The Munich Opera Festival showcases new opera, ballet and concert performances every evening. This celebration of the arts boasts a unique venue in the form of the performance space in Munich’s Marstallplatz behind the Nationaltheater.
Munich Midsummer Night’s Dream 24.07.2010, Seebühne Olympic Park
The Munich Midsummer Night’s Dream event takes place for the sixth time in 2010. Spectators will marvel at the breathtaking firework display and enjoy a fantastic programme of music featuring Rainhard Fendrich, Culcha Candela and Liza 23.
Tollwood Summer Festival, 01.07.-25.07.2010 in the Olympia Park
The 41st Tollwood Festival gets underway in summer 2010. As well as a host of major live acts from all genres, the event also features an international programme of theatre and performances. Many of the events are free of charge.
852. City Anniversary of Munich: 12.06.-13.06.2010
Bavaria’s capital is marking its anniversary with a birthday celebration that will last for several days. From Marienplatz to Odeonsplatz folk and classical music will create a fantastic atmosphere. The festivities will take place on Saturday from 10.00 to 23.00 and on Sunday from 10.00 to 22.00.
Munich Film Festival: 25.6.-5.07.2010
A celebration of film – that’s what the Munich Film Festival has always been about. The programme of films, exhibitions and featured countries highlight cultural differences and similarities and showcase the huge range of narrative styles in cinema. In 2010, the Film Festival will be taking place for the 28th time.
200th anniversary of Oktoberfest, 18.09. – 03.10.2010
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest folk festival, attracting over six million visitors from around the world every year. Because Oktoberfest is held on the Theresienwiese, many simply refer to the 'Wiesn'. Oktoberfest celebrates its 200th anniversary in autumn 2010.
Tollwood Winter Festival, December 2010
The Tollwood Winter Festival takes place every year from the end of November to the end of December on Theresienwiese in Munich. Visitors can enjoy crafts and culinary delights at the Market of Ideas along with cabaret, theatre and the “Weltsalon” tent for political debates. A huge New Year’s Eve party rounds off the event.
